Biography

Art Miki is former teacher and administrator, community leader, citizenship judge and president of National Association of Japanese. He led the negotiations to achieve a just redress settlement for Japanese Canadians interned during World War II.

For his efforts nationally, provincially and locally, he has received the Order of Canada, Order of Manitoba and Order of the Rising Sun from the Japanese government. He has an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Winnipeg and St. John's College, University of Manitoba.

Art is married, has three children and three grandchildren and has recently completed his memoir Gaman-Perseverance: Japanese Canadians' Journey to Justice.
