BIO
Biography

I’m a Saskatchewan writer whose stories and poems have appeared widely in literary magazines and anthologies, including six times in the Best Canadian Stories volumes, and have been a finalist for the Journey Prize. I’ve published some 20 books, including Bix’s Trumpet and Other Stories, which was Saskatchewan Book of the Year in 2007 and a ReLit Award finalist, and A Book of Great Worth, linked stories, named one of Amazon.Ca’s top hundred books for 2012. My new novel, A Simple Carpenter, won the fiction prizes at this spring’s Saskatchewan Book Awards and the Western Canada Jewish Book Awards.

In 2022, I was honored with the presentation of the Lieutenant-Governor’s Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award from the Saskatchewan Arts Board.
