
Combining his interests in writing and biology, Don Meredith has forged a successful career as an outdoor writer and communications consultant. Born in Los Angeles, California, he came to Alberta in 1970 to finish his graduate studies in wildlife biology. He then worked as a consulting wildlife biologist in the High Arctic, northern Alberta, and the Rocky Mountains. Don has published several articles on wildlife and the outdoors for various periodicals. He wrote an outdoor column: "Rubs, Scrapes and Tangle" for the Alberta Outdoorsmen from 1999 to 2017. His fiction emphasizes the relationships people have with each other and the land. Don is a past president of the Outdoor Writers of Canada. In 2010 the OWC honoured Don with the Pete McGillen Award for "outstanding contribution to the Outdoor Writers of Canada, for excellence in outdoor communication and for stimulating interest and appreciation of the outdoors."
