Maggie L. Wood was born and raised on Prince Edward Island, where she honed her imagination skills playing Medieval Barbies and writing and illustrating her own "Sword & Sorcery" comic books. As an adult, she landed a wonderful part-time job working at an independent bookstore in London, Ontario and set immediately to devouring their Middle Grade and YA sections. Soon children, teachers, and librarians were coming to her asking for her advice on what to read. She decided to try her own hand at writing and spent ten years learning the ins and outs of the craft. The "Princess Pawn," a YA fantasy, became her first book and has launched her well ino the world of YA writing.
