Margaret Anne Hume, a former librarian at Concordia University in Montreal, received her education from the universities of New Brunswick and McGill. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she spent most of her early growing-up years in Moncton, New Brunswick, and was an adoring young fan of Mary Grannan's "Maggie Muggins" CBC broadcasts as well as Grannan's books. This interest in Mary Grannan led Margaret to write Grannan's biography. Just Mary: the Life of Mary Evelyn Grannan (Dundurn, 2006). Margaret also selected, edited and introduced a collection of some of Grannan's CBC children's broadcasts: Just Mary Reader: Mary Grannan, Selected Stories (Dundurn, 2006). Along with her father, Albert Mair MacLean, Margaret co-authored her father's biography: My Life: Adventures of an RCAF Flying Officer, Eaton's Manager, and Family Man (Caissie Cape Publications, 2012). Margaret lives in Vancouver with her husband.
