I am the author of Adventures in Bubbles and Brine, a book that looks at the lively history and culture of fermentation in Nova Scotia. Moosewood Cookbook author Mollie Katzen calls it a ”beautifully written book – at once a travel memoir, a weave of personal histories, and an inspiring recipe collection." And Sandor Katz, author of The Art of Fermentation says the book is "a beautiful window into the culture of fermentation in Nova Scotia... With lots of practical how-to information and recipes, the book also explores much broader contexts.”
In addition to non-fiction, I have published fiction, poetry, and comics, and I am a podcast host and producer.
For 14 years, I wrote the Daisy Dreamer comic for Chickadee Magazine. My work has been published in dozens of outlets including The Globe and Mail, The Montreal Gazette, The Walrus, Reader's Digest, The Halifax Examiner, Halifax Magazine, Saltscapes,
I produce the podcast D'innombrables voyages, for the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, and co-host the books podcast Dog-eared and Cracked.
