Noémie Pomerleau-Cloutier is from the North Shore region of Quebec, spent many years in Montreal, and now lives in Rimouski. She is a poet, a cultural mediator, and an emerging textile artist (embroidery, weaving loom). She published two adult poetry books, Brasser le varech (2017) and La patience du lichen (2021- winner of 2021 Award for best work by an emerging artist in Montreal), and a teen poetry book at Boréal, Tête boule disco (2024 – shortlisted for the 2025 Governor General’s Literary Award and the 2025 Quebec French Teachers’ Association Literary Awards – poetry ). Empathy is weaved in her artistic practice that takes root in deep respect for the land, the waters and the stories that inhabit us, shaping our relationship to ourselves, our communities and our territories.
