Weekend Retreat in Muskoka *women only*
Workshop or Retreat
Get away for our new weekend writing intensive, where you can engage in craft workshops with expert facilitators and devote meaningful time to your project. No laundry, no errands, no cooking. Just space to think, write, reflect, and nourish yourself and your creativity.
Dates:
Sept 26-27, 2026 or
Oct 3-4, 2026
Program:
Inspired by the three-petaled trillium, our approach to the creative process is three-fold:
- Mind: Rigorous craft-based workshops on topics that are curated based on your needs.
- Body: Focusing on the embodied narrator, sensory immersion, and the physical beauty of the land.
- Spirit: Fireside chats about the writing life, cultivating literary citizenship, and finding the courage to stay in the "messy middle."
We believe the most profound creative breakthroughs happen when writers feel safe to experiment. For this reason, we do not engage in peer workshopping. Instead, we offer high-level professional mentorship. You will receive:
- A one-hour pre-retreat call with the instructors to help clarify goals and interests;
- Meals prepared by a professional catering service, one night of lodging in a private bedroom, all instruction, and all that Rowland Cottage has to offer (wood-fired sauna, canoe, paddle boards, swimming, forest walks, and more);
- A one-year membership in our "Words and Work" accountability and Q&A group, held every week on Zoom.
This retreat is open to women and nonbinary writers of nonfiction or memoir. Groups are limited to five or six participants and thoughtfully assembled, so the energy feels supportive, focused, and generous.
