Wendy Phillips is a writer of young adult novels in verse. Her first novel, Fishtailing, won the Governor General's Literary Award for Children's text in 2010. Her second novel, Baggage, was published in 2019, and was short-listed for the Ontario Library Association's White Pine Award. A former teacher and librarian, Wendy lives on Gabriola Island on B.C.'s west coast and writes full time.
Combining workshop activities and interactive story creation, Wendy explores the link between the adolescent experience and the voice of poetry. She uses examples from her own writing past and her award-winning novels in verse to inspire writers young and old to find their own voice.
