Michael Swan is an award winning journalist whose books include, Out of the Cold (Catholic Register Press), Written on My Heart (Novalis) and Here With Us (Novalis). Written on My Heart, a critical exploration of traditional Catholic prayers, was awarded a third prize in the 2021 Catholic Media Association book awards. Here With Us, a book about dementia and parish life took first prize in the pastoral life category of the 2022 Catholic Media Association book awards. His forthcoming book, Confessing Genocide, explores the deeper implications of Pope Francis' visit to Canada in the summer of 2023.
Swan studied English literature at the University of Toronto, received a Master of Arts in journalism from New York University, has worked for monthly, weekly and daily papers in Ontario covering everything from mining to politics. He taught English at Southwest Agricultural University in Beibei, China. He spent two years in the Jesuits. He lives in Toronto with his dear wife Yone Simidzu.
