John Corr (PhD) writes Middle Grade and Young Adult fiction. He is a professor in the Dept. of Communication and Global Studies at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario. John has conducted writing workshops in elementary schools, high schools, undergraduate courses, and graduate school programs. He has a 3rd degree black belt in Yoshinkan Aikido and is a licensed Private Investigator.
Presentations are tailored to the event / audience. He has helped elementary school students realize that they can be the heroes of their own stories. He has walked high school students through the business of being a writer, including event planning. He has taught graduate-level medical students how to improve their academic writing.
John reads from his novel and guides audience members through creative writing exercises so that they recognize themselves as writers, too. As an educator himself, John motivates students to see themselves as life-long learners. He empowers students by helping them connect their "now" selves to their future, post-secondary selves.
