On July 21, Sylvia McNicoll and Lynda Simmons were honoured with the Platinum Jubilee Community Citizen Hero Award by the Honourable Karina Gould for their work in publishing Writing the Rollercoaster, Stories of our Pandemic Experience. With the help of a City of Burlington Arts Grant, Sylvia and Lynda offered writing workshops, writing tip videos, as well as collected, selected and edited the poems and stories that went into the anthology. A print run of a thousand anthologies were then distributed free of charge throughout several Burlington locations.
