Manjushree Thapa writes fiction and nonfiction, and translates Nepali literature into English. She studied creative writing as a Fulbright fellow at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1998. She is the author of several books of fiction and nonfiction set in her homeland, Nepal. She also translates Nepali literature into English. She was a finalist in the Lettre-Ulysses Award for nonfiction, and has won the Joseph S Stauffer Prize in Literature from the Canada Council for the Arts and a Pen-Heim grant for literary translation from PEN America. Born in Kathmandu, she has lived in Toronto since 2008.
