Biography

Rebekkah Williams, RP, MA, Ex.A.T, TIR, is a Registered Psychotherapist, Writer, and Expressive Arts Therapist specializing in the treatment of trauma for over thirty four years.

 

She is the Co-founder and Director of Nemesis Group, her private practice, contracting with Health Canada Indigenous Services, NIHB/IDS, Indian Residential Schools Resolution HSP, MMIWG, Internet Exploitation and Veteran’s Affairs.

 

Graduating from University of Toronto onto three years of graduate work at Expressive Arts Therapy, CREATE Institute, Rebekkah also holds diplomas from Queen’s University in Business and has facilitated countless workshops in strategic planning and policy work for non profit agencies.  Rebekkah has a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing from Humber School for Creative Writing

 

She is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She has recently trained in Trauma Informed Yoga, and is developing psychotherapeutic wellness website: Fun For Old People.

 

Rebekkah specializes in providing intensive organizational trainings on trauma, most recently, a week long training at Independent First Nations Health and Wellness Conference on First Nations Trauma Informed Practice, culminating in Onji-noojimom dibaajimong - Healing Through Stories: Revisioning Trauma Informed Practices.

 

In addition to her psychotherapy practice, Rebekkah is the author of several therapeutic group curriculum: Niin Maabaa - This is Me and Amazing Girls, at Kikendaasogamig Elementary School, Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation which also created a social action video on MMIW (Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women), a book of artistic expression Eshkiniijig Tawchigewok, created by the children of Neyaashiinigmiing, where she also served as the Play Therapist at Nshiime Daycare and Kikendaasogamig Elementary, and Nawash Health Centre for 13 years.

 

Rebekkah is the author of Front Porch Mannequins, a work of fiction, published in both paperback and Ebook, as well as Glass Houses, a Women’s Studies textbook – along with numerous trauma related articles and published works.

 

Rebekkah’s journalism background has included being a music writer on staff at the Georgia Straight Vancouver, creative side ventures such as a radio show, video and print PSA’s.  She also graduated from the Humber School for Writing and is a member of the Writer’s Union of Canada. (Previously published under Rebekkah Adams, Rebekkah Alexander).

 

She is currently co-authoring Children’s Experience and Representation: Trauma, Healing and Expression, dedicated to highlighting artistic based resilience.
