BIO
Biography

I am a Romanian born Canadian anthropologist, writer, and curator. I primarily focus on non-fiction and academic articles. I study human-technology interaction, climate change, and health using anthropological and art-based methods. Drawing from my practical experience in administration, cultural diplomacy, healthcare, the automobile industry, and academia, I have developed a unique understanding of how contexts for action are generated.

I was born in Târgoviște (Romania), on 25th of April, 1974. I currently spend my time between Victoria, BC where I teach (since 2018) at Royal Roads University (as a Canadian Citizen), and Bucharest, Romania (my actual residence city). This offers me a particularly unique perspective on the themes I write about. I mainly focus on writing non-fiction. My research revolves around studying human-technology interaction, climate change, and health using anthropological and art-based methods.

Previously, I held roles such as the executive director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Istanbul, the chief of cabinet of the Ministry of Culture in Romania, the Lead Data Analyst at Providence HealthCare Vancouver, and the Responsible for Socio-Cultural and Economic Forecast at Renault Technologies, Romania. I have also taught at UC Irvine, where I earned my Ph.D. in 2004, as well as Simon Fraser University, Galatasaray University, American University in Paris, and the Royal University for Women in Bahrain.

Throughout my career, I have published three books, two non-fiction and one fiction, with one being in English and the other two in Romanian. Currently, I am under contract with Springer Nature Publisher for a non-fiction book on the theme of Climate Change and Artificial Intelligence, which is set to be published this year (2024). Last year, my co-author Iulia Hau and I received the “Superscrieri (Superwritings)” Award from Friends for Friends Foundation for our article titled "Age-ism or How to hate yourself in the future." The present manuscript is based on the small story with the same title "Adopt a Canadian," which was published in Allegra Lab, a Berlin-based journal.
