Bernice Morgan, a Newfoundland novelist and short story writer, was born in St. John's in 1935. Her two novels, which have become Canadian bestsellers, follow the struggles of an outport family from the early 1800's to the Cod Moratorium. Morgan has spent most of her working life in public relations, has been writing short stories for many years and is presently working on a short story collection. Interviews with Morgan can be found in Books in Canada (Feb. 1994) and in Tickle Ace (Nov. 30 Fall-Winter 95).
