Blaine Newton

Biography

Blaine is a playwright, sketch and fiction writer, improviser, actor, and recovering engineer. 

When not talking about himself in the third person, he’s been in shows you’ve never seen, published in anthologies you’ve never read, designed roads you’ve never driven down, and written plays for an audience of well under a million people.

Theatre productions include Conversations with Cows, The Kyleness of Kyle, The Thin Grey Line, Five Stages of Death, and Bravo

His short fiction has been published in magazines and anthologies, and featured on CBC and CKUA radio.  Rag Pickers, his first short story collection, was published in 2025 by University of Calgary Press.
