Biography

Cynthia Mackey’s poetry appears in The Toy, The Dirigible Balloon and Little Thoughts Press,

Hit the Road magazine. Her debut picture book, If a Bumblebee Lands on Your Toe released

with Picnic Heist Publishing in May 2025 and her second book, Butterfly Sea will be out in 2026 with

Tielmour Press. She was mentored by highly acclaimed Canadian author, Jean E. Pendziwol.

With a Bachelor of Education degree, and an emphasis in early years and music education, Cynthia is 

passionate about music, literacy, and place-based education. She presents workshops for early years 

educators and is excited to share her love for the writing process and how it can be both 

playful and joyful.  She lives with her husband in Victoria, B.C. For more information, visit her website
