Deryn Collier
BIO
Biography

Deryn Collier has dreamed of writing mysteries since reading her first Nancy Drew in the second grade. Her latest book, A Real Somebody, a historical novel set in post-World War II Montreal, will be published in the summer of 2023 by Lake Union Publishing. Her first novel, Confined Space, was shortlisted for the Best First Novel award by the Crime Writers of Canada. She is also the author of Open Secret.

Deryn was born in New Brunswick and grew up in Ottawa and Montreal, later graduating from McGill University. She now lives in a small town in British Columbia with her family, where she enjoys sewing, gardening and swimming year-round in a glacier-fed lake. She regularly over-shares about these hobbies and writing life on Instagram and on her blog.

In 2019, Deryn was Writer in Residence for the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library, and she is a popular author, moderator and presenter at readings, festivals and writing workshops.
