Arrived from Italy as a child in the middle of the twentieth century and raised in Montreal. Fled Quebec for Toronto in the early 1980s after the turmoil of the province's cultural revolution and language restrictions. Among many other jobs, finally settled down to work as a reporter for the Toronto Star for twenty-two years. Have since published a memoir about the painful Montreal years, Elvie: Girl Under Glass, and currently working on a thriller.
