Erica London

My name is Erica London, I'm a 3-time published Canadian-Trinidadian children's author. A member of the Writers Union of Canada, CANSCAIP, Vendor for Durham District School Board, presenter for Toronto Public Library and founder of *Colour Their World*.

Although it's important that my Titles represent all nationalities, the message that each one conveys is just as important.. One of which is to assist children dealing with grief/ loss, the other to instill in that young reader that they are unique within their family unit, it's all about perception and the way children perceive their guardians and the many hats they may wear. It highlights community helpers and sends the message of not letting one's disability prevent them from accomplishing their ambitions.

The *Colour Their World* YouTube channel is home to weekly read-alouds, presented through music and animated storytelling. The selection of stories on the YouTube channel cater to a range of ethnicities and heritages. We have over 140 books on the channel that are also used by educators.

As part of *Colour Their World* I visit elementary schools to present my literature through read-alouds and activities to Grades 1-4  which encourage emotional and mental health.

I believe that literacy is not only important, as you know, but showing students a positive representation of this career is most essential. That reading is fun, it’s therapeutic, and has so much to offer.

It would be my pleasure to have the opportunity to present to your students through read-aloud and activity and please note, I am open to joining classes.

Most of the workshops I've done have been with older children. They are creative writing workshops to encourage storytelling and talk about the creative writing process.

Depending on what the educator has in mind I'm more than willing to contribute in what ever way possible.

Various Presentation Options: 30 min, 1hr, 2hr, AM Presentations or PM Presentations.

I visit elementary schools, daycares, and public libraries to present my literature through read-alouds and activities to SK -Grade 4 (5-9 yrs)  which encourage emotional and mental health.

I believe that literacy is not only important, as you know, but showing children a positive representation of this career is most essential. That reading is fun, it’s therapeutic, and has so much to offer.

Depending on the age group I like to make it a little more interactive. We start off with a movement activity, read aloud of the book, and then an activity geared to the age group of the children. In regards to the age group I would say SK -Grade 4 (5-9 yrs) is my target.

I am comfortable with large groups as I present to schools through out the year. Activities require the use of a table and I walk with all of the supplies.
