Glen Downie was born in Winnipeg, worked in cancer care for many years in Vancouver, and served a term as Writer-in-Residence at Dalhousie University's Medical Humanities program. He has published fiction, non-fiction, reviews, and several books of poetry, including Loyalty Management, which won a Toronto Book Award. For several years, he operated Tall Tree Press, a micro-press specializing in poetry chapbooks and broadsides, and he co-curated the broadside exhibit Poetry Wall-to-Wall at the Toronto Reference Library. His latest collection is Each Blossom Makes Horses Tremble (Mansfield Press, 2020).
