John Corcelli was born and raised in Toronto. He’s a writer, broadcaster, musician and golfer. He considers music his “religion”, with a love for all its forms especially Jazz. He plays clarinet and soprano sax (but not at the same time.) He graduated from Ryerson University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree, the perfect foundation for his career in media. In 2021 he retired from the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) after serving in its prestigious Music Library for eleven years. Before that, he worked on the award winning Digital Archives website as a researcher and writer. He has contributed to several CBC programs, This Is My Music and The Sunday Edition, while supporting the work of producers at CBC Music. Corcelli was a contributor to Criticsatlarge from 2010 to 2018. His first book was Frank Zappa FAQ (BackBeat) 2016. His latest book is Outside Looking In: The Seriously Funny Life and Work of George Carlin (Applause) Rowman & Littlefield.
