Karl Jirgens

Biography

Karl Jirgens was born in Toronto. He is Professor Emeritus (U. Windsor). He served as editor/publisher of Rampike magazine (1979-2016). The Rampike digital archive is free to the public c/o U Windsor's Leddy Library (all copyrights remain with contributors); https://scholar.uwindsor.ca/rampike/about.html ​ Jirgens' scholarly articles, fictions and poetry have been published in North America, Europe, and Australia. His performance works have been presented at international venues including the INTER-fest in Quebec City.

 

Publications edited: Hymn to the Sun: Early works of Jack Bush. (Toronto: Coach House Press, 1997); Children of the Outer Dark: The Poetry of Christopher Dewdney (Edited w/ forward by KJ, Wilfred Laurier UP, 2007), Open Letter magazine (Series 15, #1, 2013) with Beatriz Hausner (Special issue on “Convergences, Collaborative Expression”).

 

Books written/published: Christopher Dewdney and His Works (Scholarly; Toronto: ECW Press, 1996; A Measure of Time (Fiction; Toronto: Mercury Press, 1995); Strappado (Fiction; Toronto: Coach House Press, 1985); Bill Bissett and His Works (Scholarly; ECW Press, 1992). Jirgens’ next book of fiction is titled, The Razor’s Edge (due, spring of 2022 from Porcupine’s Quill).
