L.C. Baker is a vibrant new voice in children’s literature, hailing from the lakeside community of Mimico in Toronto, Ontario. A passionate storyteller and lifelong poet, Baker is devoted to weaving important life lessons, values, and empowering messages into playful rhymes and imaginative tales. Her debut book, The Incredibly Radical Bradical, is already capturing the hearts of young readers in the independent book world with its unique charm and uplifting message.
A multi-award-winning poet with work published throughout Ontario, Baker brings a lyrical touch to her stories, often drawing inspiration from her deep connection with animals—especially dogs—and her belief in celebrating individuality and kindness. Through school visits, public readings, and author events, she encourages children to express themselves confidently and proudly.
Baker is a proud member of the Writers' Union of Canada, recognized for her contributions as a self-published author. She describes herself as a lover of animals, the culinary arts, and the finer things in life, all of which spark her creativity and fuel her mission to tell meaningful stories that resonate with today’s young readers. Join children’s author L.C. Baker for an uplifting and interactive 60-minute presentation featuring her debut rhyming picture book, The Incredibly Radical Bradical. This high-energy session combines storytelling, creativity, and heart, centered around Bradical—a quirky, courageous dog who teaches his friends the power of being unapologetically themselves.
The session begins with a warm welcome and a short, engaging introduction to the author’s journey, her love of dogs, and the inspiration behind Bradical’s story. L.C. will then perform a dynamic read-aloud of the book, using voices, expressions, and audience participation to bring the characters to life.
Following the reading, students will dive into a lively, age-appropriate discussion about self-confidence, being unique, and choosing joy over conformity. Through fun questions and interactive dialogue, kids will reflect on what makes them “radical” in their own way.
Next, students will take part in a mini creative activity:
For younger grades: a “My Radical Self” coloring page or worksheet where they draw or write what makes them unique.
