Originally from Toronto, Louise Aziz Sidley lives in Rossland, an old mining town situated in the Monashee Mountains and traditional Sinixt Territory. Her paternal grandparents fled to Canada from Syria in the early 1900's. She earned an MFA in creative writing from UBC. She's been a member of the Columbia River Writers, since its inception in 2000. Short Story publication credits include The Dalhousie Review, The Humber Literary Review, among others. Her debut novel, Project Wild One was recently published by Red Deer Press. She is interested in the outsider experience, whether that otherness comes from socio-economic status, gender, age, or unfamiliar natural environments. Often, her inspiration comes from the natural world, which is both perilous and generous. She fascinated by stories that juxtapose the senses of foreboding and hope.
