Lynne has been writing and editing professionally for 40 years. She holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from University of King's College in Halifax (2015), certificates in writing, editing, and publishing from Simon Fraser University writing and publishing program (2008), and a BA in anthropology and English from University of British Columbia (1984). In August 2026, Iguana Books (hybrid) published Lynne's first book: No Such Thing: A True Story of "Mild" Traumatic Brain Injury and My Twenty-Year (so far) Recovery. She lives in Port Coquitlam, BC, with her office assistant, Loki.
Based on personal experience both of concussion and of researching my book, I can speak on any aspect of mild traumatic brain injury and its sequelae (from a lay perspective) as well as my experience with personal injury law.
I give workshops of varying lengths to writers and editors on a) using narrative arc to structure a memoir or other creative nonfiction manuscript, b) ensuring factuality and accuracy in creative nonfiction, c) why hire an editor and what to expect when you do, and d) an approach to manuscript evaluation as a sideline and a way to improve your own writing. I illustrate my points with examples by primarily Canadian authors. I can tailor length to the time allotted by a) including essential vs additional information, b) including hands-on exercises and discussions, and c) varying the length of the Q&A.
