Mark Paul Oleksiw was born in the late 60s and remains a proud Montrealer. Mark is a graduate of McGill University, where he edited his faculty's offbeat, somewhat controversial, but always entertaining monthly publication. He has carved out a distinguished career in Finance, where he lectured at his alma mater. His first love was always the creative arts, especially writing. After years of writing prose and poetry on lined pages, blank pages, envelopes, etc...he finally submitted to his first love and wrote and published his first novel, The Boys Who Danced With The Moon, in 2018. Later that year, his second novel, a heartfelt ode to university life and literature, Munching on the Sun, was completed. In 2020, Mark's most challenging work, Time's Musicians, was a semifinalist for The Booklife Prize.
His emotionally resonant coming-of-age novels delve into the fragile threads of memory, friendship, and personal transformation. With a storytelling style that balances lyrical introspection and emotional honesty, Mark’s work explores the quiet yet pivotal moments that define who we are.
He draws inspiration from a wide range of influences—satirical brilliance like SCTV, the emotional pull of music across decades, from the epic storytelling of The Lord of the Rings to the punk rebel vibe of Andor. These passions infuse his writing with humor, rhythm, and a cinematic sense of scope and character.
Mark’s novels are known for their deeply human characters, evocative settings, and themes that linger long after the final page. His stories resonate with dreamers, the disillusioned, and those who are forever navigating the landscapes of their past.
He continues to write and daydream—often with a soundtrack playing and a rebellion in mind. His current project, Rain For The Puddle Splashers, is schedule for publication in early 2026.
