Odette Auger

Biography

Odette Auger is an award-winning Anishinaabekwe writer. Centring and amplifying Indigenous voices through journalism led to 11 journalism awards since 2020– and to finding her own narrative voice.

Strengthened through the Writers’ Trust Mentorship, and the Audible Indigenous Writers’ Circle, Odette's forthcoming novel Eyebright was Honoured for Outstanding Unpublished Work at the 2026 Indigenous Voices Awards. Eyebright was acquired in a pre-empt by katherena vermette at Scribner Canada, and Odette is represented by Cody Caetano of CookeMcDermid. Her creative non fiction has been published in The New Quarterly, and in The Malahat Review.
Odette lives in the forests of the Salish Sea and is a member of Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation.
