
A Maritime Canadian by birth and sensibility, Ruth's Maritime and war-themed fiction and non-fiction appears in publications based in Canada, the US and the UK. She is author of A Watch in the Night: The story of Pomquet Island's last lightkeeping family (Nimbus, 2007), shortlisted in the Hamilton, ON, Book Awards. Other stories can be found in three Nimbus collections. Her current projects include finding a home for her debut novel of historical women's fiction, and nursing an eventual collection of linked short stories. She began her writing career as a newspaper journalist in Atlantic Canada, then migrated to Ontario where--still drawn to water--he became a communications consultant on Great Lakes issues. Her education includes a BA in Philosophy from the University of Prince Edward Island and a MS in Communications Management from the SI Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University.
