Steve Rennie is a writer and researcher whose work has appeared in The National Pastime, the Journal of Canadian Baseball and Up Here magazine. His next book, Boomtown Baseball (University of Nebraska Press, 2027) tells the story of the game during the Klondike Gold Rush and across the North in the nineteenth century. He also co-edited and contributed to From Bytown to the Big Leagues (Society for American Baseball Research, 2025), a history of baseball in Canada’s capital. He is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research, and he has given three presentations on the early game at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York.

Previously, he was a journalist with the Canadian Press, where he won two National Newspaper Awards and was a three-time finalist for the Canadian Association of Journalists Awards. His reporting took him around the world, from covering the war in Afghanistan to travelling through part of the Northwest Passage aboard an icebreaker.
