Margaret Hastings-James is a writer in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She began writing in a small Inuit community in Northern Quebec . She moved to Paris in 1994 and lived there for 12 years, studying under British author, Julian Gloag. She also did many work shops on script writing and short fiction. A children's weekend workshop attended by William Hurt done by Suzie Morgenstern was one of the more memorable workshops in Paris.
Since returning to Canada in 2006, Margaret continues to write and attend workshops at the Writer's Federation in Halifax. She has two children and a small army of animals who are a constant distraction and inspiration.
