Armin Wiebe was born in Altona, Manitoba and studied at the universities of Winnipeg and Manitoba, and has been a teacher in Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. He was at Vic Enn's farm when the Manitoba Writers' Guild was founded. He has served as writer-in- residence at Saskatoon Public Library, Parkland Regional Library, and University of Manitoba's Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture. Armin taught in the Creative Communications program at Red River College from 1996 - 2008. His novel The Salvation of Yasch Siemens celebrated 35 years in print in 2019 and was shortlisted for Manitoba Reads 2009. His stage play, The Moonlight Sonata of Beethoven Blatz, premiered on April 7, 2011 at Theatre Projects Manitoba. Armin's new play, The Recipe, premieres at Tom Hendry Warehouse Theatre on November 7, 2024 in a co-production between Theatre Projects Manitoba and Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre.
