Renée D. Bondy is a writer and educator. Renée was a long-time contributor to the Canadian feminist magazine Herizons, she has published articles in Bitch and Bearings Online, and her essays have aired on CBC radio. Her short stories appear in The New Quarterly and The Humber Literary Review Spotlight.
Renée’s début novel, [non]disclosure, was published in 2024 by Second Story Press. In [non]disclosure, a young woman narrator reflects on her childhood in the 1970s when she was sexually abused by a Catholic priest. With the support of the volunteers and residents of Neil’s House, a hospice for men dying with AIDS, she begins to process the trauma of her past and find a way forward.
Renée holds degrees in Religious Studies and History, including a PhD in Canadian History from the University of Waterloo. She taught in the Women’s and Gender Studies program at the University of Windsor for several years, where she facilitated courses on queer activism, women and religion, and the history of women’s movements.
Renée is a graduate of the Humber School for Writers. When she is not sitting at the keyboard, she is an avid swimmer, baker, cruciverbalist, and hospice volunteer. She and her partner make their home in Chatham, Ontario.
