Biography

Douglas Aitken is a detective series writer who focuses on Montreal, and French and English Canada. Born in Vancouver, he has lived extensively in Colombia, Costa Rica and Quebec. He has a background in architecture and urbanism, subjects that he often expresses in his writing.
His detective series features the work of Serge Blackburn, Université de Montréal criminology professor, in his battle against the Mafia, Québec biker gangs, dangerous psychopaths, and politically-entrenched influence peddlers.
Douglas Aitken lives north of Montréal in a remote valley in the mountains of the Laurentides. Aside from living mainly in French and English, he is equally fluent in Spanish. He can also communicate in Icelandic, Russian, Portuguese and some Mandarin.
At present, he has published Three Faces of Vancouver: an in-depth guide book to First Nations, Asian and European Vancouver.
