Jessica Marsh

Biography

Jessica’s short stories have appeared in The New Quarterly, The Fiddlehead, Grain and The Sun. Her work has been nominated for The Journey Prize and the National Magazine Awards. With the generous support of two consecutive Canada Council for the Arts grants (2022 & 2023), she is currently working on her first novel, a coming of-age story about a biracial girl set during the back-to-the-land movement on Epikwit/Prince Edward Island in 1979. Jessica wrote “Wake” (dir. Jeremy Webb), 2010 winner of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Short Film Face Off. She is a 2012 Praxis Screenwriting Centre Fellow. Jessica has been a professional massage therapist RMT since 2000. She lives in Kjipuktuk, in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq.
