Biography

MAYA AMEYAW is a Ghanaian-Canadian author whose work explores themes of intersectional identity, mental health and the healing power of art.

A former bookseller, she is now the Program Lead of InkWell Writing Workshops where she has co-edited several literary anthologies. Her debut novel When It All Syncs Up received starred reviews from School Library Journal and Kirkus. It was also a selection of Kirkus's Best Young Adult Books of 2023, and the Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Best Books for Kids & Teens. Her second novel Under All the Lights was featured as one of CBC Books Most Anticipated of Fall 2024 and received a starred review from Booklist.

Her third novel Spiraling Out will be published by Annick Press in 2027. She is represented by The Seymour Agency.
