Susan Raphael is an addiction and mental health clinician, author, speaker, and educator with more than two decades of experience supporting individuals and families affected by addiction, mental health challenges, and recovery. She is the founder and principal of Sustainable Recovery, a Toronto-based counselling practice, and a referral clinician with the NBA Clinicians' Network.
Susan is the author of What’s Wrong with My Teen? Finding Answers to Teenage Addiction and Family Crisis, a resource for parents, caregivers, educators, and helping professionals navigating adolescent substance use, mental health concerns, and family crisis. Drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience in long-term recovery, her work focuses on communication, family systems, boundaries, resilience, and recovery.
Beyond the counselling room, Susan is a frequent speaker, media contributor, and advocate for family-centred approaches to addiction and mental health. Her insights have been featured on CNN and other national media platforms, as well as conferences, school communities, podcasts, and professional organizations.
