donalee Moulton’s first mystery book Hung out to Die was published in 2023. A historical mystery, Conflagration!, won the 2024 Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense (Historical Fiction). donalee had two books out in 2025, Bind and Melt, the first in a new series, the Lotus Detective Agency. Her first paranormal mystery, Cardinal, was published in 2026.
donalee’s first mystery short story “Swan Song” was one of 21 selected for publication in Cold Canadian Crime. It was shortlisted for an Award of Excellence. Other short stories have been published in numerous anthologies and magazines. Other stories have been shortlisted for a Derringer Award.
donalee is also a published poet and short story writer. Her work has appeared in Queen’s Quarterly, Arc, Prairie Fire, Atlantis, The Dalhousie Review, The Antigonish Review, Carousel, Fireweed, and Whetstone, among others. She is a former co-publisher and co-editor of The Pottersfield Portfolio literary journal. In addition, donalee was the editor of Atlantic Books Today, a quarterly publication for the East Coast book industry.
As well, donalee is a professional educator and trainer. She has taught communication and writing/editing courses at Dalhousie University, Saint Mary’s University, and Mount Saint Vincent University. donalee has taught writing and editing workshops and courses for writers’ associations across the country.

I have conducted numerous workshops related to writing and editing both fiction and non-fiction. Topic and length can be determined in consultation with organizers.
