Margaret Rodgers is a writer, artist, and curator. Over COVID she embarked on a coming-of-age memoir titled Maple Park. She is the author of Locating Alexandra (Toronto: ECW, 1995) about Painters Eleven artist and Oshawa resident Alexandra Luke. Her essays, articles and reviews are published in Urban Glass, Sculpture Magazine, ESPACE Sculpture, Canadian Art, and the Journal of Canadian Studies. She has poems published in Sunshine Review, Contemporary Verse, Canadian Woman Studies and Atlantis: A Women's Studies Journal.
She presents her work in public readings and to school groups.
Coming of age stories from my work in progress titled Maple Park. I have recently read on line within 130 students and 3 teachers. The response and ensuing discussions were animated about the comparative aspects of my 1950s teen years and their 2022 ones.
For International Women's Day I gave an in-person reading at Whitby Library with accompanying slide show.
Followup to my reading would include an art or writing project where students create self portraits.
