Elizabeth (Liz) Jansen is a PhD (ABD) Student at York University in Toronto, Ontario exploring Canadian and Environmental History. Her research interests lie in examining how her Mennonite-settler ancestors related to the lands they lived on and those they shared it with and how they adapted when the order in their world collapsed. She seeks to explore stories from them and those they interacted with, as the wisdom derived from those times can inform intercultural and ecological relationships today. Her research has shown that we can conserve, preserve, and enrich our present and future by examining our history through a more informed and holistic lens. Liz's third book, a memoir, Crash Landing, The Long Road Home, explores how the experiences of our ancestors shape us. Or, who we are before we’re told who we are. She's also authored Women, Motorcycles and the Road to Empowerment, and Life Lessons from Motorcycles. She lives in Orangeville, Ontario.
