Mary Fairhurst Breen
BIO
Biography

I am a late blooming Toronto nonfiction writer. Starting with my memoir, I have written a lot about mental health and addiction. I was involved in the writing of an in-depth series about the opioid crisis for the podcast Canadian True Crime in 2023. I often speak about the impacts of this health crisis to the media, groups in related fields and the public.

I also write about queer history, aging, feminism and other issues dear to me.

Some of my writing is pretty gloomy, but some of it is funny. My genre has been called "queer feminist tragicomedy" and also "women who've seen some shit."
