Jeff Bursey
BIO
Biography

Jeff Bursey was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. He now lives in Edmonton, Alberta. His plays have been performed in St. John's and Charlottetown, his fiction has appeared online and in print, and his scholarly articles and literary criticism have been published in many print and online journals in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. His first book, _Verbatim: A Novel_, was published by Enfield & Wizenty in September 2010. It takes place in a fictional legislature in a fictional Canadian province in the 1990s, and is told in lists of members, letters between bureaucrats, and debates (often set out in dual columns). Bursey's second novel, _Mirrors on which dust has fallen_, came out from Verbivoracious Press in June 2015; it deals with religion and sex, and is set in the same city and time as his first book. In June 2016 Zero Books published a selection of his criticism titled _Centring the Margins: Essays and Reviews_. In February 2018 Verbivoracious Press released the paperback edition of _Verbatim: A Novel_ that included both a critical preface and an afterword by two academics. In 2020 his novel _Unidentified man at left of photo_ came out from corona\saizdat, which also published his short-story collection, _an impalpable certain rest_, in 2021.
