Biography

Aileen Burford-Mason is a Canadian biochemist, immunologist, and author. Born in the UK she grew up in Ireland. After completing a B.Sc. in biology and biochemistry at University College Dublin, she later completed a PhD in immunology at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK, carrying out research in the field of gastroenterology and the immune system. In 1988 she emigrated to Canada with her late husband and son, where she continued her research at the University of Toronto, moving into cancer research.

Her life-long interest in nutrition led her to again switch career paths, and since 1996 she has dedicated her career to educating healthcare professionals and the public on the connection between nutrition and health, and advocating for the importance of nutrition in disease prevention. She has authored several books on the subject, including "The Healthy Brain: Optimize Brain Power at Any Age," "Eat Well, Age Better" and “The War Against Viruses: How the Science of Optimal Nutrition Can Help You Win.”

In addition to her research and writing, Dr. Burford-Mason has a busy practice as a nutrition consultant in downtown Toronto. She regularly gives lectures and seminars to health professionals and to the general public. She is a popular speaker at Medical Conferences and as a media commentator on nutrition and a broad range of health-related topics.
