BIO
Biography

Chanel Sutherland is a Vincentian Canadian writer of fiction and creative nonfiction. She is the author of the short story collection Layaway Child (House of Anansi Press, May 2026). Her work has been recognized with the 2021 CBC Nonfiction Prize, the 2022 CBC Short Story Prize, and the overall 2025 Commonwealth Short Story Prize. She was named one of CBC Books’ 30 Writers to Watch in 2022. Chanel holds a BA in English literature from Concordia University and lives in Montreal, Quebec.
