Celebrate Readers & Writers this fall at Bookapalooza Haliburton Highlands, Ontario.

This two-day event kicks off Friday evening September 15 with TWUC's own Lawrence Hill as the Big Book Club special guest. In previous years, the Big Book Club has offered a warm welcome to Frances Itani, Susanna Kearsley and Terry Fallis.

Saturday is the Readers & Writers Expo, an all-day, all-ages event showcasing authors, editors, illustrators, playwrights, poets and writer-related organizations and services. More than 50 booths available at only $20 for a 10x10 space.

All-day programming includes the Children's Book Nook with author readings and free books for kids. Union member Heather M. O'Connor will lead a story walk for Runs With the Stars. 

Adult presentations celebrate words in all forms. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Sandra Bouza will close out the program with songs she wrote at Halls Island Artist Residency in the Highlands.

Admission is free to the Big Book Club and to the Readers & Writers Expo; donations and sponsorships are most welcome.

A landscape of lakes, rivers, wetlands, towns, villages and cottage communities, the Haliburton Highlands is home to many creative artists and artisans. It's truly inspiring as nature's work of art.
