Since 1996, the Alexandra Writers' Centre Society (AWCS) has hosted a Writer in Residence annually to support emerging writers in our community. This program offers a unique opportunity to mentor up-and-coming writers, providing guidance, encouragement, and expertise. If you're passionate about nurturing literary talent while advancing your own creative work, this could be your chance to join an inspiring legacy.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applications from Canadian writers of all genres who meet the following criteria:

• At least one full-length publication (e.g., short story collection, novel, poetry collection, or a produced play).
• A commitment to mentorship and community engagement.

Residency Details:

• Duration: September to November 2025
• Format: In-person, online, or hybrid

During the residency, the Writer in Residence is expected to provide manuscript consultations toAWCS members, host workshops and public presentations, and engage in drop-in member eventsor similar community activities. Additionally, the Writer in Residence should be actively working on a personal writing project throughout the residency.
