We are excited to announce that the City of Richmond and Richmond Public Library are now accepting applications for the 2026 Writer-in-Residence program.

This residency offers a talented writer the chance to design innovative public programming, lead workshops, mentor emerging voices and engage with the Richmond community from April 4 – June 13, 2026. The selected writer will receive $5,000 for the residency.

We welcome applicants from all literary genres, with particular interest in those whose work explores:

• Children’s literature (*authors and illustrators welcome to apply as a pair)
• Science-fiction and/or fantasy
• Themes of Queer joy

Applications are due by April 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM (PST).
