Ed Butts has published a book about Hereward K. Cockin (1854 - 1917), a poet and journalist who has been largely forgotten today, though he rubbed shoulders with some of the leading Canadian literary figures of his day. For many years he wrote a column for the Guelph Mercury under the name The Blacksmith. Ed's book The Blacksmith: Hereward Kirby Cockin of Guelph, tells Cockin's story and includes sections on his poetry and his newspaper column. Copies can be ordered from Ed at edpbutts@yahoo.com .
