Hollywood in the Klondike
New Publication
Harbour Publishing has just released the seventh non-fiction book by Yukon Story Laureate and TWUC member, Michael Gates. "Hollywood in the Klondike" describes the discovery and restoration of a hoard of hundreds of reels of silent era movie film buried in permafrost in Dawson City in 1978. In the book, he explores the consequences of the discovery and the long and complicated relationship between the Klondike and Hollywood. Many prominent figures in Hollywood, including Alexander Pantages, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, William Desmond Taylor, Marhorie Rambeau and Victor Jory, have connections to the gold rush town.
